Millennium      February, 2000

When the millennium came
                                                       And went
I found myself alone
It didn't affect anything
When the planet rolled
Exposing itself again to the same old star
And I'm on for the ride
Swooning with exhilaration
                                               from the
                                                              sights
                                                                           sounds
The human touch

Did Jesus really walk the earth unscathed?
While I find it so easy to trip and fall
And do those truck drivers become numb to all there is to see
Logging only white stripes and miles and the paycheck for the load

There is no total freedom
Only bits and pieces
                        Physical, Emotional, Political, Spiritual
                              ECONOMICAL
Because they never come together
They never add up
like some Algebraic nightmare                    Unsolvable

Soaking in mother earth's warm fluid
Watching the snow flakes fall
The struggle is to enjoy it             not possess it
Far from the right angles and walls of civilization
On the boundless plain
I find myself alone
