Cheyenne    September, 1997

How long have we been riding in these old trucks together nine years?
You never once said a word
Just looked out the window
Maybe once in awhile we would look at each other
We speak with no words

You were with me thru the darkest times
                  Sunrises and Sunsets
                  Never complaining
                  Always watching
                                                   Me

                                                   My things
                                                   My family
I remember when you were younger

You could outrun me
climbed impossible peaks

To be with me
It's hard to imagine you not there

                 Silent vigil
                 Tail wagging
                 Rolling in the grass
You're the best companion I ever had
